Google’s researchers believe they have evidence that we may be in a multiverse of parallel universes and it is a discovery that seems to be pulled from sci-fi.
Their new cutting edge quantum computing Britain’s chip, “Willow” is not only fast but as they claim ‘MD Slow’ fast working chip brings today’s most advanced supercomputers which would have taken 10 septillion years to solve, completes them and delivers them in less than five minutes.
Let that sink in for a moment.
The Man Behind the Fear
Hartmut Neven, head of Google’s Quantum AI Division sees this insane performance to be a result of Willow tapping into the universe’s computational power. Yes, you read that correctly- the universe.
These astonishing claims are not unfounded. Parallel boosting of computer’s performance ‘‘arms’’ has begun’’ offers a possible explanation for the mindboggling speed of willow exceeding all conventional quantum physics arsenal.
The Multiverse Theory: What Is it All About?
The concept of the multiverse states that there is not a single universe only, but instead there are numerous universes all that coexist. In other universes there are slight differences. There are other universes in which you have a different occupation as well, and in one you may be inhabiting a different area altogether.
Such parallel universes are assumed to be separate from one another, having no connection to each other. However, the latest technology developed by Google allows for incredible opportunities which previously seemed impossible: is it possible that their quantum computer is capable to cross into other realities?
What This Could Mean for the Future
The implications would indeed be too absurd if the multiverse theory that Google proposed turns out to be true. What if the extent of solving complex problems that would require years – be it finding the cure for a disease or combating climate change, exploring more of the Space – could be accomplished in just a matter of minutes? What it would mean for science, technology, and humanity itself is something that we have not even learned about in history.
However, this is only an assumption, and not yet a fact. Extra resources have to be provided so that better insights about Willow can be formed which can indicate if there are indeed other universes. But what is known for a fact is that this which was previously unimaginable has now been made possible as a result of the new find.
If anything, the prospects are a lot more crazy than what we ever expected.
